It's a good idea to prepare well for your turns, for your safety and the safety of others. It also helps you feel more confident if you are well prepared.
Here's what I do to get ready. It's worth noting that some items, your paperwork folder or your lunch, appear in different bags for different duties - so don't mix them up!
Cleaning turns
What to read the night before
- loco notes
- loco roster, to make sure you know who you are on with
- traffic rosters, to make sure you know what signal boxes open so you can let the crew know
What to take on the day
Paperwork
- loco roster
- traffic roster
- Training schedule
- Basic rules
Clothing & luggage
